Leadership & Board of Directors

The Broody Hen is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who bring lived experience, professional expertise, and deep community commitment to our mission.

Our leadership reflects both personal understanding of disability advocacy and practical experience in education, programming, and nonprofit operations.

Together, we provide oversight, accountability, and strategic direction as The Broody Hen grows.

Rana McIntyre

Rana is the founder and daily operations lead of The Broody Hen. She oversees the Transition 2 (T2) partnership, farm stand operations, art direction, marketing, website management, vendor relationships, and fundraising campaigns.

As a mother of a daughter who suffered brain trauma, Rana brings lived experience and deep compassion to every aspect of the organization. She coordinates and teaches art classes, manages social media and communications, builds partnerships with local vendors, and works hands-on at the farm with animals and gardening.

Her leadership blends creative vision with operational execution, ensuring the mission remains both heart-centered and sustainable.

President & Founder

Sue Ehinger

Sue is a certified fitness coach and serves as The Broody Hen’s Volunteer Coordinator. She assists with administrative operations, board leadership support, and program implementation.

As a mother of a daughter with Down syndrome, Sue brings advocacy insight and firsthand understanding of the importance of inclusive opportunity. She also leads adaptive group fitness classes designed for individuals with disabilities and regularly volunteers at the farm alongside her daughter.

Vice President
Secretary

Courtney Mercer

Courtney serves as Board Secretary and supports governance documentation and operational organization. She works closely with farm activities, Transition 2 students, and daily program support.

In her professional role as a full-time caregiver supporting multiple children with diverse needs, she brings hands-on experience, patience, and a deep commitment to disability advocacy. Courtney’s long-term goal is to continue serving within nonprofit work that empowers individuals with disabilities.

Director of Programming & Independence

Emily Frisby

Emily is a high school special education teacher and oversees program planning, social activities, and class coordination at The Broody Hen. Her professional background in transition education provides critical insight into vocational readiness, independence skills, and structured program development.

She plays a key role in building programming that supports confidence, growth, and meaningful engagement.

Property Host

Michelle Aull

Michelle is the landowner who generously hosts The Broody Hen on her five-acre property. As a mother of seven children and foster parent to another, including two children with special needs, she brings both lived experience and extraordinary commitment to the mission.

Her partnership made the launch of The Broody Hen farm stand possible. She and her family are currently building a multipurpose structure to allow for an indoor farm stand and weather-protected programming space.

Michelle’s support — both logistical and personal — has been foundational in helping The Broody Hen grow from vision to reality.

Transition 2 Program Partner & Community Support

Cam Atchley

Mr. Cam, as students affectionately call him, is a teacher’s assistant with the local Transition 2 class that partners with The Broody Hen. He helps bridge school-based transition programming with real-world vocational experience at the farm.

As a father of a son with disabilities, Cam brings lived understanding and advocacy to his role. He also owns and operates a lawn care business, making him a vital part of our land stewardship and maintenance efforts while modeling strong work ethic and practical skills for the young men we serve.

Cam is actively involved with Young Life’s Capernaum program and has built meaningful relationships with many of our special needs boys, offering mentorship, encouragement, and consistent support both on and off the farm.
